Back-to-School Support Guide

Co-developed by teachers, school leaders, County education officials, parents, and children in Mombasa and Lamu, Kenya, this supplementary support guide is designed to enable school leaders and broader teams to plan for re-opening following COVID-19 closures.

The Back-to-School Support Guide was approved by the Kenyan Ministry of Education in December 2020.

It contains three sections focused on: i) supporting schools to open safely; ii) supporting teachers, children, and parents to take care on personal and community mental health and wellbeing, and; iii) engage children in a ‘Welcome Week’ with gender-responsive, playful activities and materials.
